Membership is on the basis of talent, scholarship and character and is open to students enrolled at Marshall University seeking a major or minor in music. He/she must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 in music courses and a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all other non-music courses. He/she must also possess the potential for musicianship.

FAQsQ: Why should I join Delta Omicron?
A: Benefits of joining any Greek organization include: friendship, higher standards of academics, character building, development of leadership, a sense of community, and time management skills. But joining Delta Omicron, a professional music fraternity, is an opportunity to be a part of a group of your peers who have like interests and goals as music majors. It has the potential to give you extra musical opportunities and allows you to network with musicians who have the same respect and devotion to music as you do. Q: Is joining Delta Omicron expensive? A: As a prospective member, you will only need to pay a $20 prospective member fee, and a $70 initiation fee before your initiation ceremony. As an active member, yearly dues are approximately $67. Compared to other greek organizations that can range from the hundreds to thousands per year, our dues aren't overwhelming. Other expenses may include donations for events or obtaining appropriate Delta Omicron apparel. Q: How much time will I need to devote to Delta Omicron? A: Delta Omicron Delta Kappa holds weekly meetings. Apart from these meetings and a few exceptions, other events are not mandatory. We are all students, musicians, and contributing members of society as well. We DO understand. Q: Does Delta Omicron take part in any kind of new member hazing? A: Absolutely not. Delta Omicron has an extensive formal policy on hazing and the action is not tolerated within our fraternity. Each member is presented with this policy along with their handbook and is expected to be knowledgeable of it's meaning. |
